Eugene Smiley
Principal
Gene Smiley, Principal of Georgia Specialty Constructors, joined the electrical construction industry in 1981. Gene joined Georgia Specialty in 1989 where he has served as vice president since 1998. Gene currently serves in a leadership role where he implements industry best-practices and leads employee growth and development within the organization. Gene’s acute attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement have proven to be benchmarks for success.
Zac Melton
Principal
Zac Melton, Principal of Georgia Specialty Constructors, joined Georgia Specialty in 2003. Shortly after joining the organization, Zac successfully graduated from a respected electrical apprenticeship program. Zac has since led multiple initiatives across the organization and he currently leads business development and preconstruction activities. Zac continues to focus on expanding existing relationships and enjoys devoloping relationships with new clients.
Paul Darden
Paul Darden joined Georgia Specialty in 2001. During Paul's first 11 years, he served as a lead electrician while also attending an electrical apprenticeship program. In 2012, Paul accepted a new role within the organization where he began assisting with estimating and project management. Paul's current responsibilities include managing key projects and leading the in-house BIM department for the organization.
Avery Vasily
Avery Vasily interned with Georgia Specialty while attending Georgia Tech. Avery graduated from Georgia Tech in 2016 with a BSBA in Operations & Supply Chain Management. Avery joined Eaton Corporation in 2017 where he served in various roles including Senior Sales Engineer, specializing in power distribution equipment. Avery rejoined Georgia Specialty in 2020 where his current responsibilities include managing key projects and expanding technology integration.
Cliff Terhune
Cliff Terhune started his career in the electrical construction industry in 1984 where he began as a field electrician. In 1992, Cliff’s skillset led to additional roles including electrical estimating and project management. Cliff joined Georgia Specialty in 2018 where his current responsibilities include estimating and managing key projects for the organization.
Amanda Armstrong
Amanda Armstrong serves as our lead accounting and finance controller. Amanda joined Georgia Specialty in 2017 where she brought nearly 15 years of industry accounting experience to the organization. Amanda’s current responsibilities include cost management, accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. In 2009, Amanda received her BBA in Accounting from Clayton State University.
Troy Hogan
Troy Hogan joined Georgia Specialty in 2015. During Troy's first 3 years, he served as an electrician while attending an electrical apprenticeship program. Troy accepted a new role in 2018 where he currently leads the prefabrication department for the organization.
Don Ward
Don Ward joined Georgia Specialty in 2009. During Don’s first 2 years with Georgia Specialty, he served alongside field personnel where he supported multiple projects. In 2011, Don accepted a new role within the organization as warehouse logistics coordinator. Don currently serves as the central purchasing agent and warehouse manager for the organization.
